The regions of six worlds: pink the centre, white the snows, yellow the dry lands, green the humid lands, blue the water country
The Murim map
A 40 000 × 40 000 block bubble: a round centre and four outer regions, dealt anew in every world, then 4 000 blocks of ocean.
In a new world, the land around spawn is the Murim: a square of 40 000 blocks a side where only Murim biomes grow, each in its own region. Beyond it, a ring of 4 000 blocks of ocean, then the vanilla world.
The regions
- Centre: the sacred mountains, Cloud Sea Peaks and the Peach Blossom Valley.
- North: a high plateau of Tianshan Snowfields crossed by the immense Kunlun Glaciers, up to height 256.
- West: the Loess Plateau and the Hexi Frontier Desert.
- South: the Jade Karst Forest, the Shu Bamboo Sea and the Camphor Hill Country.
- East: the Jiangnan Waterlands in the valleys between long camphor hills, and here and there the granite needles of the Cloud Sea Peaks.
The centre stays in the middle of the map: a disc of about 10 000 blocks radius. The four outer regions share the rest, one quarter each, so all five regions hold about the same land.
Every world deals its regions anew, from its seed: which quarter the North, West, South and East each take, how the quarters are turned, and how their borders wander. "North" or "West" are the regions' names, not compass points: in your world the snows may lie to the east. The seed also changes where the biomes, the relief and the structures fall.
You spawn at a random place in the centre region, within about 6 000 blocks of the middle of the map, on Murim land, never in water or on a peak.
Worlds made before 16 October are not compatible with this map: make a new world.
Structures
- Seven sites, each in its own biome: the Cloud Cliff Sanctuary (Cloud Sea Peaks, one per world, the nearest to spawn), the Peach Spring Hamlet, the Yellow River Bandit Den, the Jade Gate Beacon Post, the Jade River Stilt Village, the Misty Bamboo Daoist Temple and the Lotus Moon Garden.
- The Alliance Outpost, anywhere in the Murim, about one every 1 000 blocks.
- The Alliance Arena, only in the centre or near a frontier between two regions.
- The great bandit camp, a palisade held by thirty Mountain Bandits, anywhere in the Murim, about one every 2 000 blocks, dressed for its region.
- The Root Well, the Crab King's lair: one per world, under the Jiangnan Waterlands.
- The Raven Tower, the Crow Master's hermitage: rare, in the Cloud Sea Peaks, the Jade Karst Forest, the Wulingyuan Stone Forest and the Camphor Hill Country.
- Any two Murim structures stand at least 100 blocks apart, edge to edge: none falls on another.
