Spawn rules & protected places
Bandits rule the surface, Minecraft's monsters stay underground, and nothing spawns at random inside a structure.
Who spawns where (Overworld)
- Mountain Bandits are the surface's common enemy, in every Overworld biome, mostly at night.
- Minecraft's own monsters (zombies, skeletons, creepers...) spawn only at least 5 blocks below the surface: in caves, not in the open. Phantoms and zombie sieges follow the same rule. Animals are unchanged.
- The Nether and the End are unchanged.
Protected places
- No mob spawns at random inside any structure, its courtyard included, nor in the Cloud Cliff Sanctuary or the Root Well. Wandering traders and their llamas do not arrive there either.
- Commands, spawn eggs, spawners and a site's own residents are not affected, and mobs already there are not removed.
Protecting your own builds
A house you built, or one pasted with WorldEdit, is not a structure to the game. An operator can protect it from random spawns; the protection is saved with the world, per dimension. It stops random arrivals, not an enemy walking in through the door.
